ADRENALINE, THE GOOD, THE BAD
& THE UGLY
Picture

Adrenaline is the acute stress hormone, it reacts quickly in an emergency.

Now adrenalin is the guy you want around when shit hits the fan. He is the one who gives you the surge of energy by releasing blood sugar stores into your arms and legs so you can fight or get the hell out of there.
Adrenalin is the life of the party he makes you feel pumped, motivated and daring. He is usually the guy there with you when you are skydiving or bungee jumping, if that's your jam.

He is also the superman that sometimes steps in to give you the strength to lift a car to save a life. But like superman he is only around for short bursts before he turns into Clark Kent and then cortisol has to come and clean up the mess to get back to homeostasis.

As much fun as adrenaline can be, having him hang around all the time is not good as he is communicating to your body that you are in danger making it extremely hard for you to relax and feel calm - Hellooo Anxiety!

He is also the guy making you look older than your years. Yep that's right, he causes wrinkles and speeds up the ageing process. However, more seriously than that he can damage blood vessels and cause blood to clot, increasing the risk of stroke and heart attack.

BUT...he makes you feel good and like a junkie you are addicted to him always looking for your next hit. You get this hit from loading up on coffee, sugar and other stimulants, chasing drama, adrenaline sports or even watching a thriller.

Many of us are so jacked up and don't even realise we are living in this state of a constant adrenaline rush. This excess adrenaline in our body is inflammatory and causes pain - hellooo Arthritis and Fibromyalgia.
These all stem from adrenal stress and excess adrenaline
