Adrenal Fatigue is one of the biggest health challenges that you will face, but the medical system won’t recognise it.
The illness comes with numerous physical symptoms, not just extreme fatigue, many of these symptoms are common and can also be attributed to other disorders, so most people who are suffering from this condition don’t even know it.
Adrenal Fatigue or Chronic Fatigue Syndrome is something that accumulates overtime, at first you may feel more tired than normal, experience headaches, find yourself out of breath at mild exertion or have difficulty sleeping. Slowly over time symptoms multiply and the intensity increases, however there is no real evaluation in the medical system.
it is extremely difficult to test and diagnose as most tests come back normal and you are told there is nothing wrong with you, its all in your head. You leave the doctors office for the 4th or 5th time with no answers, doubting yourself and your sanity, but deep down you know that something in not quite right and what you are experiencing is not normal.
Im here to tell you that it is a real phenomenon and It is affecting thousands of people around the globe with little to no support available and there is no drug or surgery to treat this condition.
What are the Adrenals?
The Adrenal glands are two triangle shaped glands which sit on top of kidneys. These glands are responsible for stress and creating the stress hormones Cortisol and Adrenaline. The release of these stress hormones is called the ‘Fight or Flight’ response. Fight or Flight, is programmed from our hunter gatherer days where there were life threatening situations such as being eaten by a lion or tiger. When the body senses a life threatening danger, it turns on the 'Fight or Flight' response, releases the stress hormones Cortisol and Adrenaline which gives us the energy to run from the lion.
Adrenals work hand in hand with the immune system and the nervous system to manage inflammation through stress hormones. Stress hormones play an integral role in providing us the energy we need to get through our day as well as controlling our mood, they can also affect our digestion and the production of melatonin for restorative sleep.
If adrenaline and cortisol are constantly released by your adrenal glands things start to break down, unregulated cortisol causes over-active immune activity, and your body cant turn it off. When your ‘off’ switch is broken and your immune system is always activated, the adrenal glands go into overdrive trying to correct the situation by releasing more cortisol, this not only tires out the adrenals, it can ultimately suppress the immune system resulting in chronic inflammation, chronic illness and auto-immune disease.
